Old Pine Tree

(Gina Holsopple)

The first time you laid eyes on me

I thought, well isn’t this nice. You look mighty sweet

Now, I’ve got patience. I’ve got time.

But I won’t wait long just to make you mine

I love you darlin’, I hope you love me

I’d like to meet you out beneath that old pine tree

We’ll whisper secrets sweetheart until the break of dawn

Until the birds start singin’ ‘bout how we carry on

I’ve got hands that have a mind of their own

I’ve got a voice that’d like to call like a crow

I’ve got feet that’ll mosey right up to your door

Just to ask if I can see you once more

I love you darlin’, I hope you love me

I’d like to meet you out beneath that old pine tree

We’ll whisper secrets sweetheart until the break of dawn

Until the birds start singin’ ‘bout how we carry on

What I might have missed if you hadn’t existed

I can’t even see how my life might have gone

And I can’t resist those sweet sweet kisses

There’s a little farm right down the road

It’s the perfect place to watch our family grow

Cuz “Ma and Pa” has a mighty nice ring

And with you beside me I just want to sing

I love you darlin’, I hope you love me

I’d like to meet you out beneath that old pine tree

We’ll whisper secrets sweetheart until the break of dawn

Until the birds start singin’ ‘bout how we carry on

I love you darlin’, I hope you love me

I’d like to meet you out beneath that old pine tree

We’ll whisper secrets sweetheart until the break of dawn

Until the birds start singin’ ‘bout how we carry on

From the Earth

(Gina Holsopple)

It’s been raining so long and I’m trying to write a true song

Finding passion in some words I really mean

While everything is crumbling and all the fault lines rumbline

The earth is craving true love and she’s calling out to me

Truth is there’s not a lot that really matters

Truth is there’s only little that we need

I’m tired of climbing up some social ladder

Just to see the earth that I’ve been working with my fingers

I’ll be okay as long as I can grow

As long as I can know that I’m okay

I’ll harvest what I can

And work to thank the land

And know I’m from the earth and to the earth I’ll go again

There’s not a lot to count on, not so easy to believe

I look into the future and all I can do is breathe

There’s a skinny yellow line on what I think is the horizon

It’s not a lot to see, but it’s enough to keep my eyes on

Truth is there’s not a lot that really matters

Truth is there’s only little that we need

I’m tired of climbing up some social ladder

Just to see the earth that I’ve been working with my fingers

I’ll be okay as long as I can grow

As long as I can know that I’m okay

I’ll harvest what I can

And work to thank the land

And know I’m from the earth and to the earth I’ll go again

I’ll be okay as long as I can grow

As long as I can know that I’m okay

I’ll harvest what I can

And work to thank the land

And know I’m from the earth and to the earth I’ll go again

Broken Heart

(Gina Holsopple)

There’s a voice that is calling out a message to your soul

It says if you want peace you better let this go

But all this deep, deep sadness, it’s so hard to let it fly

So you just throw your arms out and start to cry

That’s just what happens with a broken heart

A body torn apart

When all that’s left is art

Made from this broken heart

This is no simple matter when you’re tossed out to sea

And you become the captain of this sinking brig

You’ve got a hundred ship hands and they’re all looking to you

For some piece of guidance that will get them through

You’re at a full blown banquet and suddenly you’re full

There are forces you can’t fathom each direction you are pulled

You are wrapped in blankets and all you feel is cold

And though this new life is growing all you feel is old

Then finally sleep comes like you never thought it would

And for one blessed moment you can say you’re really good

Under this full moon rising like it always does

and you know that deep down you are solid love
